Close To The Carpenters
Close To The Carpenters
Carpenters features Julia Conlon and Peter O’Hare.
Peter and Julia have performed many times together, as part of The Time Travellers function band and Travelling Light, their acoustic duo. Both avid Carpenters fans, they decided to form a tribute in early 2015 when they recognised a demand for recreating Richard and Karen’s beautiful, timeless songs and the enjoyment that arises from sharing them with their appreciative audiences.
Peter O’Hare
Peter is an accomplished musician having played in many bands. As well as performing as ‘Richard’, he creates all the musical arrangements and takes great pride in making sure that the integrity of The Carpenters’ music is retained. At the age of sixteen, Peter played in his father’s dance band – The Barry Franks Band. He studied Music at Lancaster University and has directed theatre musicals throughout Yorkshire. He plays a number of different instruments to an exceptionally high standard and also records and produces music for other artists. Peter is also a keen songwriter and his own compositions are published by Starshine Music.
Julia Conlon
Julia has been singing for many years and has been a member of various choirs and singing groups. Julia first joined the Leeds Girls’ Choir when she was 9 years old, and since then has performed many times in bands, acoustic duos, orchestras and musical theatre productions. She is the lead singer for the Time Travellers and performs regularly at functions and weddings. Joining Close to The Carpenters has been a magical experience for Julia as she has been a fan of Karen’s for many years.
Close to The Carpenters perform two 45 minute sets. They can also perform a collection of seventies, Motown, swing and popular songs throughout the decades.
